About CHARLES E. CARSTENSEN PHOTOGRAPHY

Photography is life - a continual learning experience. Landscape photography with an emphasis on aerial photography is where I belong. My first camera was an Eastman Kodak Baby Brownie. I still have it along with the original box  After high school, while attending Pueblo Junior College, Pueblo, Colorado I was fortunate to be hired by the Pueblo Chieftian and Star Journal to replace the two staff photographers while they were on vacation. That experience propelled me to become a United States Navy Photographers Mate. I attended two Navy Photography schools at Pensacola, Florida. Spent a year in Atsugi, Japan Fleet Air Photo Lab and reassigned to Pensacola Naval Air Station Mainside where I was a member of the shooting crew. Experience there was primarily industrial and public relations photography. The U. S. Navy provided me with the GI Bill coupled with working full time - I was able to earn a BSBA from the University of Denver, Colorado. The education served me well as I started a business from scratch, grew to 18 employees, 3 offices in Los Angeles, California. At Van Nuys, Califorinia I learned to fly, became a licensed private pilot with instrument rating. I operated the independent insurance adjusting and investigating company, Carstensen Company, for 35 years. Closed the business and retired after specializing in General Aviation Accident Investigation and Adjusting. My career has been focused on serious accident/crash related documentary, legal, and evidence photography. I accept aerial, and personal assignments.
